On September 17, 2022, a group of my family and close friends were kind enough to come together to run the Tough Mudder Obstacle Race in memory of Raza Amin and the MPS Society.
Tough Mudder is a team building endurance event series in which participants attempt several obstacles. Tough Mudder has events throughout the USA and Canada. The obstacles often play on common human fears, such as fire, water, electricity and heights without any judgement or pressure on the participants.
We were very blessed to have Raza part of our lives. He brought us a tremendous amount of joy. Like other MPS children, Raza is remembered for his constant smile, loud laugh, and talking with his beautiful eyes. He taught us patience, appreciation for the smaller things in life, and understanding for other children like him.
Although we ran for Raza, our intention was to create awareness for all children and families affected by MPS. We had great conversations with other participants and we were able to create awareness. Since there is no cure as of yet, continuous awareness is important.
We are planning to run in 2023 and welcome anyone who would like to participate.
