We Care January – Finding Peace Along the MPS Journey

Jan 10, 2024 | Past Event

Start the New Year off making friends and allies – a reminder that registration is open for the first We Care Session for 2024.

Receiving a rare disease diagnosis such as MPS brings immense change and challenges. Alongside the medical complexities, families must navigate new realities, altered hopes and expectations, shifting personal and social relationships, and deep emotions.

Join Angie Lombardo and Geoff Lucas for this We Care online session focused on discovering acceptance of your child’s diagnosis, of the changes in your day-to-day life, of the uncertainty ahead, and ultimately of your family’s new “normal” and finding peace within it.

Together we’ll touch upon:

Self-Acceptance: Managing negative self-talk and building personal resilience

Accepting Support: Opening up to help from community, social, and professional networks

Maintaining hope and redefining what success means for your child

Living in the Now: Focusing on finding joy in the present despite uncertainties of the future

This session will provide open discussion for families to connect and share their experiences finding acceptance. It will be an opportunity to realise you are not alone in this journey, and that acceptance is an ongoing process we can help each other achieve. This is a safe space for raw, real conversations focused on mutual understanding and support. We hope to see you there!

Date: Thursday January 18, 2024

We’ll meet from 5-6:30pm PST (8-9:30pm EST) on Microsoft TEAMS.
